My name is Britt Kelly, I was born February 18, 2000 in Atlanta, GA. Coming to Snead State was a big adjustment for me coming from Georgia. Hunting and fishing where I come from isn't all that popular, so my first week here was very eventful to say the least. If I don't know my surroundings or any people around me I'm a very quiet person. Once I get to know everyone and everything around me I'm a very talkative and outgoing person. Typically, even I know someone very well i'm a quiet person in general, I like to think to myself most of the time and see what others have to say first. Anyway, I'm on the baseball team here at Snead State. Baseball is my true passion, I have always loved it and everything I do baseball seems to have an impact on. I am a left handed pitcher, so I am a very rare player in baseball terms because not that many pitchers are left handed compared to right handed pitchers. I put a lot of hours into baseball, working on my craft all the time. At Snead, we are always doing something for baseball. When I'm outside of class I'm either at the field, the weight room or the cafeteria getting something to eat before we have practice. That's why I love it, it always keeps you busy and active. If I was just a normal student I don't think I would have the drive to do my school work compared to being an athlete. Also, being an athlete brings so many opportunities to meet new people that live in the dorms, the dorm includes all athletes from softball, golf, basketball, tennis and volleyball. So it really feels like a real college experience in my opinion.
The city of Boaz and Snead State Community College is just very different for me coming from suburb of Atlanta. I have family that lives in Arab. I visited them all the time as a kid and I'll still see them on the weekends I have off from baseball. Although, I never envisioned myself being so close to them and attending college at the same time. It really is an ideal situation, hopefully I do well enough in the baseball aspect that I can go to a Division 1 school for it, then hopefully be drafted into the MLB. Also, I used to sing and play guitar at a very young age. I did them both for about 5 years then I realized it wasn't my passion, and I didn't love it like I did baseball. Academically, I want to have above a 3.0 GPA for both semesters. I know it is an obtainable goal. managing my school, baseball, and my faith might be overwhelming but I think i can do it. I'm ready and very prepared for everything. No matter how hard things get here I promised myself I wouldn't quit. If I make a promise to myself and my family I will keep it.
